I am thinking about swapping my headlights in my '99 F350 to the newer '05-'07 style.
I have heard that the header panel must be cut in order for these lights to fit.
I also understand that the wireing/bulbs are different.
Am I asking for trouble in trying this swap? is there a template for the cutting? --I've also heard that there is a plug in wireing connector made for this swap?? anyone done this with success??
I just did this on wednesday, a few days ago. I actually found it better to remove the header panel ( 8x 8mm bolts, very easy actually) and cut the areas when it's out of the truck. It's nice to have one or two people holding the panel for you, and i used a sawzall with a metal blade. Made SOME dust but not near as much as it would with a die-grinder and cutoff wheel. The Puredieselpower also carries the lights, and at the end of the description is the install instructions. Basically a large square needs to be cut out. I bought their harness, which enables you to use a small diode in the unused factory connector to run the high beams and low beams at the same time. Also i bought the silverstars, my LED's converted right over. I bought the harley headlights, because i thought they would match my truck. I was disappointed they were black and not gray as i had thought. But the lighting improvement was AMAZING!
Amen to that. I bought the silverstar bulbs when I did the upgrade and I find that I hardly ever use the hi beams with the current lights. I did the diode mod just for grins.
its a nice upgrade those lights are sooo much nicer than my old ones... yea the header panel needs to be cut up a bit but its not big deal preatty easy stuff
