hey guys im thinking about doing the 05-07 Harley Davidson headlight conversion ive got a 2000 and I think the headlights I found from hitech require cutting of the header panel? how hard would that be. also it comes with pigtails to convert just wondering if itll be the same brightness as my current ones which are clear... their $150.00
I did it to my 99 with the fogged out headlights and was not as intimidating as it seems. And in my opinion, it's worth it. cleans the front end up by 100% If you do butt connect the wiring make sure you us the heat shrink connecters.
I had a minor issue of the H13/9008 connectors being pretty low grade and one started to burn up giving me an intermittent light out.
I found some hi-temp ceramic connectors on flea-bay and swapped over to the high spec connectors. That made a difference in the light output.
I had already made up my own switch-bypass relay harness, so the stock headlight switch only runs the relays, the relay switches current directly from the battery to the headlight, and then upgraded to 90/100w bulbs.

Hey billy its not that difficult to get them to fit...
They do look damn good once installed tho.
These are mounted on the updated header panel. Mine was pretty jacked up in the crash.
And now that my truck is back on the road... its a little easier for me to haul tools around to work on stuff. Let me know when you are ready to dive in.
Get ceramic pigtails and HELLA bulbs (silverstars overpriced/overrated) from www.rallylights.com
I hate the H13 bulb/pigtail. I had more useable light with relay harness and 80/100 watt HELLA bulbs (from www.rallylights.com). using '02-'04 clear lenses. Plus my truck still looks like a 7.3!
Wow, that riffraff guide is way better than the one I posted! I even bought my 05 headlights from riffraff but didn't realize they had those instruction online.
Here is a pic of the header panel on my truck after trimming:
I've done a few of these for people. I've also done a couple injector swaps, a turbo replacement or ten, one or two...thousand HPOP swaps, headers, a few uppies, suspension work, brakes, exhausts, engine replacements, LPOP's, water pumps, radiators, steering boxes, power steering pumps, and on.....
I love my 06 front end! Like mentioned the light output is around the same as the clear 03 style. I added fog lights on my low beams and driving lights on my high beams though. I can see everything!
