Has anybody looked it to putting the Intergrated Trailer Brake Controller that comes with the f250-f450 into a f150? Is it even possible? If so how would you do it? I would like to put is the dash next to the RSS switch or lighter area.
I have no idea, but it would be more work and money then its worth if I had to guess. I think the 250 controller integrates the master cylinder of the brakes into the equation which would cause issues if not the same. I think I remember reading somehwere it also monitors the speed of the vehicle too.
Yea it cost some more money but if done right it would look stock and if it did work it would be nice. I have been studying the wiring diagram and I think it might work the only thing is I have to put on a differnt master Cylinder I do not know if the new one would fit? I just pulled the center bezel and I think it might even by wired for it the are two extra wire right next to the lighter one is for the RSS (reverse senor) system and the othe I think is for the brake??? Or does any buddy know what the othe wire is for??
It would be vary hard to do. You would have to change the brake master cyl. and the wiring is just not there. Isn't the other wire for traction control?

I believe it is.
This is a cool idea, but the time and $$ you would spend to do it, if it is even possible, would be a lot. The controller I have works just fine, doesnt look as nice but serves the purpose.
heres my input on this situation.....if you're hauling a load that makes you this worried about trailer brakes, maybe you should be driving an F250 or better, anyhow....?

Trailer brakes help out period. The aid in your stopping. It takes more strain off the trucks brakes and utilizes the trailer brakes. Why would that require a F250? Some people dont need the towing of a 250, yet still like the added comfort of having the trailer brakes applied when you hit the brakes versus, when you hit the brakes, your truck brakes have to stop the trailer, which is pushing on the back of the truck..
Some type of trailer brake is required in most states on trailers over 3000 lbs. (or is it 2k?). So you certainly don't need a F250 to pull that. It's just on the lighter trailers, it's usually a surge brake rather than electric, so no additional equipment is needed on the tow vehicle.
You both aren't reading my statement correctly. The point I was trying to make is F150s can have normal brake controllers the same as any other truck(which works fabulous on my F350 and 20K worth of trailer truck and load). So.....why does he NEED a BETTER braking system.....If he NEEDs it he also NEEDs a bigger truck, because it would take a pretty good sized load to make someone need more than standard electric brakes. Standard electric controllers stop my rig just fine, heck the trailer brakes will stop the truck fine if I activate them with the button on the controller. I wasn't saying he couldn't haul with his 1/2 ton. I wasn't saying he didn't need brakes. Moral of the story: He shouldn't have to worry about integrated braking on a 1/2 pickup, period end of story. If he wants it, that's fine- his prerogative and I do plenty of things other people disagree with. Just sayin he shouldn't NEED it. Having brakes IS a NEED in most hauling situations....Everybody ok now?

Your first statement was confusing as to what you are saying now. Anyway, I get your point but I believe what he was trying to do was make it look stock.. versus needing more than the standard trailer brakes. I think it was more of an apprearance issue than anything. He didnt say anything related to needing more, but where he could mount it. Who knows...I agree with what you are saying now that I understand your posts.
yes I like the looks of the Intergrated Trailer Brake Controller on the f250 and I was just try to do the same on my wife f150 but I am thinking that it is not worth my time. I do not know what I am going to do yet... All am pulling is a 22 foot camp trailer I do not like hitting my knee on the controller when mounted under the dash. Ther is a big hole right next to the lighter and was try to put it there again make it look stock.
