You should have 4:10 gears, that would help. If you have a 5 speed manual, it's only rated for 3,500 I believe, however it will will as much as an automatic, but ford tries to avoid warrenty issue's. If it were me, I'ld pull it, I've pulled 5 and 6,000 pounds with my truck and I have a manual, but it's up to you. Gears would help and be eaiser on the clutch if you have or get 4:10's.

agree with everything so far. the suspension is ready for it. I pull a 4150# dry weight fifth wheel with my stock 99 on stock 225/70-15 tires. 60,000 on the original firestone wilderness HT's, now running Bridgestone Dualer A/T's.
It goes without saying but make sure you have a trailer brake control unit installed. more advice on that can be found in the towing forum.
