94 3.0 thermostat
My Ranger will not come up to temp. Replaced the thermostat once and it still just barely comes off of cold. Could I have gotten a bad thermostat or is the sending unit bad? Is there any way to test the sending unit? Also if it doesn't come up to temp could this throw an error code? I get a check engine light just about the time I think the thermostat should open.

Put a multimeter on the temp sender and when it is cold get the resistance reading, Warm the truck up and check it a couple of times you should see the resistance change and then it will probably go to infinate when it hits the bad spot (temp) If that is what happens there is your problem!!
