My truck started making a rattling sound (as if the something was loose and rattling due to vibrations)
It happens when I first crank up the truck and when I make right turns. Also right after I crank the truck if I mash on the brakes it changes the sound a bit.
I had a mechanic look at it but he couldn't find any thing.
maybe one of the dust shields around the brake caliper is just close enough??? when you push the brake it may push just hard enough and move the rotor to change the tone of it.... just a thought....
I checked the belts and pulleys. The noise doesnt change with engine RPM and goes away at higher RPMs.
My idler arms looked ok to me and my mechanic.
What gives????
the belt idler I had to replace looked fine and felt fine on the truck but after taking it off where I could listen to it up close I found the ball separator inside had come apart or got eaten or somethng
the noise didn't change with rpm except to go away at higher rpm then all of a sudden it got quiet and never camr back
It is definitely not the idler pulleys or the belt... I took the belt off and cranked the truck and the noise was still there. The only pulley spinning was the fly wheel.
The brakes and bearings were completely redone a few weeks ago.
The noise seems to have gotten a little worse, and is definitely coming from the passenger side.
What could be vibrating on the right side, that stops at higher RPM's, gets worse on right hand turns, and dissapears at idle after putting the truck in gear and driving?
Problems with the hubs... or suspension? could these be culprits?
Jack up the front axle so both wheels are off the ground. Spin the tire and if the axle shaft is moving, that is your culprit, your hub is sticking. Might need to get a replacement or change out to full manual hubs.

what kind of rattle??? like a dust or heat shield ?? does it sound heavier?? did it start right after the brakes???you said it changed when you step on the brakes hard or turn right.. like i said sounds like a dust shield on the rotors..you might have banged it just right..when you step on brakes or turn right the brakes grab just a little and could make it sound different.
I had the same problem but not at start up , but when I would stop it sounded like the driver side floor was being hit by a hammer, FORD was going to replace the ball joints ( no thanks) as I drove it home no noise, the noise started back jacked up the truck and turns out the stablizer bolts are a little to small in dia replaced with f450 stablizer bolts 45k ago not a sound from the front end, hopes this helps
I jacked up the front end and the hubs checked out ok. I took a closer look at the brakes and rotors on both sides everything is ok.
The noise doesn't change with speed or engine rpms, nor does the truck pull when i brake (brand new brakes). It could be the exhaust but it sounds too solid.
these are the bolt that are on the stabalizer bar behind the front axle, the stabalizer has two link bars from the frame to the stabalizer bar ( anti roll bar ) as its called here in the USA
