Anyone know how many watts the factory fog light put out? I used to think they were a waste of money, but I drove the wifes truck with fog lights the other morning and am thinking of adding some to my truck.
I've got a ranch hand replacement bumper so I'm looking at the round bolt on (KC type) aftermarket lights. I just don't know what wattage I should be looking for.
So the 55W lights I can get for $10 ea. shouldn't be too much. Now I just need to figure out where to wire them in so I don't accidentally leave them on with the key off and kill my batteries.
$10 lights. sorry. JUNK. you have a $$$$$ truck and you are going to ruin it by installing a set of $10 lights on a $1000 bumper? do yourself a favor and get a set of good lights.
Any probs getting the highbeam flash or when actually in fog with the 9005's? I believe the 9005's said they were a high beam light. I just got 9006's and 9007's for my truck and the 9006's dont fit.
9005 is a low-beam bulb, commonly used in GM vehicles. The 9006 is a high-beam bulb. My neighbor's fog lights burnt out in his 01, so we put in the 9006s that I had from my old chevy . I would however reccomend the 9005s, as the 9006 bulbs caused a little bit of melting on the inside of his fog light lenses.
Yeah, I stole mine out of a Grand Am that blew up. The high beams fit and the low beams didnt, but from what I saw here both should fit. The low beams also had to have a ridge ground out of the middle from what I learned here. I will research it a bit more and see what I can find. I am not the biggest fan of running high beams in there either.
EDIT - I lied earlier I have 9005 and 9006 and only the 9005 worked. The 9006 needed to be ground out and they wouldnt lock in. But I would assume the 9006 are a low beam and the 9005 a high bc the 9006 had the same grey plastic on the ends that the fogs had.
