on average how long did those of you with rebuilt motors have to go before you stopped burning oil? I'm at 1000 now and under higher revs I get blue smoke and oil on some plugs.
Mine didn't, doesn't smoke with a little over 3k on it now. It smoked some when started up for run in and a little bit the first few days but that was it. Sure it's coming up around the rings and not down around the valves?
Well it has a new valve that seems to be working fine..and a new hose...as for gaskets everything is tight is there any way to reay test that without pulling that eavy thing off lol
The PCV should pull a vacuum on the crankcase at low rpms. Uncover the air intake and cover it with your hand. After a little time, the PCV valve should have pulled a slight vacuum on the crankcase. If you have leaky rings, the PCV may not be able to keep up with the blowby at higher rpms, and you'll have oil fed to the intake through the PCV.
If you have oil on only some plugs, then it most likely is only those cylinders/valves that have a problem, especially if the other plugs are clean. How loose were the valve guides when you put it back together? Did the valve wobble around when you had it only partially inserted into the guide, or were the guides re-sized?
tom
They were replaced with broonze guides everything seemed tight...I might have an overfill condtion though..I only put in 5 quarts but it always reads high..gonna change the oil this weekend and start with 4 quarts and check t from there...
