how are you supposed to build boost off the line with a standard? ive heard of puttin the ebrake on and slippin the clutch and pullin the release when the lights green...??
lastnight me and my buddy were seein how much we could make just reving it up, and I can only get 5psi and to do that I have to bring it up on the limiter. and in his dodge he can build 15...stupid dodges.
youre not gonna build boost sitting in park revin her up, you have to add resistance to the engine. The engine alone doeas not need alot of air to rev up. IOW, there's not alot of fuel needed to rev up in park. If you want to build boost......um..........hook up to your buddy's dodge at the hitch and then you'll build boost without going anywhere. Most turned up dodges will drag a psd away, but put her in 4LO, and drop the stick in granny and that dodge will not be able to do anything and youre truck will barely break a sweat. This will probably be most effective on the pavement. CAUTION!!! playing around like this in any truck has its downfalls and while I do not endorse doing it if youre truck is a daily driver, I have to admit it looks like fun.
I know your not going to build boost without a load, but I heard there was a way to get a bit of boost off the line with a stick. apparently the rev up technique works best.
The problem isn't the initial jump off the line, it's the shifting that will kill you if you're trying to race it. The 6 speed is a big truck trans that doesn't like to be shifted that quickly. Plus you lose boost with every shift.
actually the jump on the line is where the most time is lost, you lose almost a second on an auto in the first 60 feet. my shifting is fine, when you shift at 3200+ your rpms wont drop below 2300 so your boost spools back up just fine.
