Zero deck pistons made for a 400 have valve relief built-in. It is 2 or 3 cc. You don't have to worry about valves hitting the piston unless you have extremely high lift.

Standard flattop pistons have valve relief built in, but since you milled it off you will have to check.

The way to check is to assemble the motor with the cam installed and mount one head and install the valve train, after you put some putty on the top of at least one piston. Then rotate the motor through at least two complete rotations. Take the head off and look for a dent in the putty. The thickness of the putty that is left will tell you how much clearance there is.

There is a certain putty that is used for this, and there is a minimum clearance that you need to allow for dynamic and temperature effects.

If you do not have enough clearance, you will need reliefs cut with a fly cutter on every piston.

A good automotive machinist can tell you what material you need and what the minimum clearance should be.
