cranking without icp?

If you have a bad icp will the truck crank with it unplugged?

with the ICP unplugged the truck can start and run. If it won't start with the ICP unplugged you have other issues other than the sensor.

give us some details and we can help you out.

When you unplug the ICP the ICP pressure defaults to about 700 psi, & the PCM uses other inputs to control injection...

Did you try it?....

yes i tried it, still nothing. Have you guys ever taken a icp valve apart and cleaned it? I did and and it wasn't bad. I'm not sure how touchy they are, how hard would it be to mess one up? It seemed pretty basic.

Well from the sounds of it we are talking two different things. Sounds like you are talking about the IPR (injection pressure regulator) that is screwed into the back of the High pressure oil pump. ICP is the sensor on the driver side head just behind the the AC compressor. FI the IPR is unplugged no the truck will not start but it will turn over with the starter.

I have not taken and IPR apart but Rick has i think.

ok so let start from the top. What problems were you having that lead to all this. I read the other thread but let start from the top here and we will run down the list. Don't lose hope we can get you up and running just might take some work and some time.

yeah it's plugged in. Would it be better to leave the icp unplugged while I trouble shoot this to just eleminate that as a problem?

ok hpop o-ring leak, was running fine just leaking. Took fuel filter, reservoir, and pump off. changed o-rings and gaskets. Re-installed everything and won't crank. That's the just of it. I did have a lot of gunk in the fuel bowl and on the screen. Changed the filter and cleaned the screen.

yes try starting the truck with the ICP unplugged but if it doesn't work just leave it plugged in. Also double check that the HPOP reservior is full. if its not within and inch from the top fill it with engine oil.
