shopping for heads
I'm looking for some heads for my 390. Ive got some low perfomance truck heads C8AE-H or so ive been told. What should i look for to biuld up? Ive heard the C8AE-A heads are police interceptor heads are they? how much different are mine from those? thanks

The C8AE-H is NOT a low perf truck head. It's a head that was used on the low perf trucks. The difference was in the CR, trucks tended to get the low CR pistons.
The C8AE-H only needs hardened exhaust valve seats to be good. If you really want some performance from them then you can go with some larger valves and do some port work. In stock form, these heads aren't bad. The biggest gain from port work comes from removing the hump in the roof of the exhaust ports, working the bowl from the valve seat to about 2" into the ports, matching the ports to the intake/exhaust then unshrouding the valves a bit.
No need to change heads, these can be good up to the 400/425HP range.
