My o5 EB 2x4 needs new struts all around. Only has 50,000 miles and handles like crap. I am trying to find some on line but am having trouble. Can someone help me out? What would you recommend?
i would thin explorer seeing this is the explorer forum.
why are they already bad?
it does not seem right.
what about tires, alignment?
who said they need to be replaced? the dealer?
what about a warranty?
this sure makes me glad i do not buy new vehicles anymore.
Nobody has told me they are bad, I think they are because I get too much spring bounce now when going over bumps. It is a 4x2 and I have had it off road alot, like up in the mountains on jeep trails, so I am thinking with that and I don't think factory struts are that good to begin with, and my current springy ride, that I need to replace them. Warrenty edned a long time ago.
Exactly, that's why I am asking. My main goal is to eliminate the "bouncy" ride, so I am thinking maybe stiffer struts if my factory ones are not doing the job.
i is hard to believe the struts wore out in 3 years. i have original on my 2002 and 1996. I think i would do further examination before changing them. have someone bounce on the bumper and look under the truck. when you stop bouncing, how many cyclies till the truck is calm?
did not say he should not get them if he wants them.
i just do not believe that is the rides problem.
low pressure in tires, or too much pressure in tires, high center of gravity, rubber bushings and independent suspension is all contributing to the 'bouncy' ride.
i would look over everything before i would replace the struts is all i am saying.
Thanks, i appreciate the replies. There may be nothing wrong with my current struts, what i didn't say is that the Explorer is my wife's ride and I drive a BMW, so it may be that there is nothing wrong but I am just spoiled. I had heard of factory struts going bad early from some of my friends, so I was thinking that first. I will get under there and look as suggested and if everything seems tight and proper I will have to decide if I want to upgrade or not.
