Well last night my hood hinge decided to break so I was wondering if the hinge has to only come from a 60's truck or if one off another year would work? Possibly a car hinge?
According to Hollander Interchange manual 61-66 Ford truck hood hinge only option. May want to run a search under hood hinge in this forum (61-66), topic has come up on few occasions. If recall, member suggested removing hinge and placing in shop press. The hood on my 65 is not setting properly so when time permits intend removing and see if able to repair using my shop press and resetting the hinge pin.
ya...61-6...I think its also N and B series too up to 700 or so...prolly wont find any of them in a wrecking yard...but you never know...heck...theres 2 N series trucks on ebay now....
Food for thought, came across a hood thru ebay by setting up email notification thru ebay for 'Ford truck parts', 61-66 within my area. When it appeared seller was parting out a truck, I would email and finally got lucky, seller did not want to deal with shipping and handling large package. They do make fiber glass replacement hoods.
theres one on ebay now , but the RH hinge area is in bad shape...hood looks good otherwise....Has anyone replaced either the fwd or rear inner structure on the hood...or know a good bodyman...
Short fix...Remove the springs and weld the broken piece. Use a broom handle to hold the hood open. Hinges are available here in the classifieds and in junk yards.
