front end noise

I have noticed a rattling/popping noise coming from the front end. It is pretty frequent but occurs randomly with no specific pattern. I checked the shocks and lubed up all the joints but it is still there. I am thinking a wheel bearing but not sure. When I swerve the truck it makes the noise so I am pretty sure it is coming from the left front. Any other ideas.

I changed the swaybar links awhile back, I'll check them again for tightness. Would they make that noise going straight?

Does the noise happen more often when going over bumps or hitting potholes? How many miles do you have? I would suggest taking a look at the lower ball joints and replacing them if you havent already. Typically a popping when hitting bumps/potholes points to the ball joints. A wheel bearing will hum all the time. More information on the truck would be more helpful.

Big is right, probably more like a ball joint. wheel bearings whine all the time and get louder as you go faster. any shimmy or wiggle when you brake?

It is a 2000 4X4 with 160K. Ball joints were replaced a while back. It makes the noise just cruising down the highway, not just going over bumps or potholes. Come to think of it, there does appear to be some excessive tire wear along the outside edge. No shimmy or wiggling when I brake though.

On my truck, the lower shock bolts were pretty worn and caused some noise.
