Is the factory rocker shaft assembly ok for my rebuild? I'm not planning on running a large cam, so can I get by with the stockers or do I need to invest in the aftermarket units? Sorry for the double post!

as long as the clearences check out it should be good to go. I assume no big cam means no 6-7k trials ? Take them apart and clean them up like new, shaft end plugs and all and check tolerances for shaft/rocker....look for wear patterns etc... Also (if going with the original) do the dizzy as a lot of crud is hiding in there...you dont want it dumping goo in your fresh build.
also inspect the tips of the rockers for signs of the valve stems wearing a pattern into the tip. this will be a ridge for the valve stem to catch on with a new cam lift.
can these rocker shafts be ordered from somewhere? if so who?? i think i need to replace mine, i tried cleaning them (taking them apart and the shaft broke).

Please explain/ inquiring minds want to know.
There just FE rocker shafts standard items. Kragen, Napa, you name it. 30.00 or so
Well if you care to upgrade cheaply..I have as set of Harland Sharp HD Rocker shafts that have been used...But the do Mic out to OEM specs..so there ready to go.. They have a slight haze to the Hardened shafts..But..again nothting to worry about...
The walls are .250" thick...and I have some Doug AKA " Pump Builder " End stands to got with them..... Carl Knows about some of my left over parts..as well does G..FFR428..
I think pics can be seen in my gallery? I dont remember if I pulled them when I went on to the other build? I'll take $175 + shipping for them... They list for about twice that..+ shipping....all you will need are the center stands for the set That Doug has for about $60? I think thats what I read the last time on his site..
Russ, those HS rocker assemblies sure do look sharp.
Someone give 'em a good home the price is half of what they're worth.
Ther're not on my afford it list otherwise I would of snagged 'em months ago.
