Powerstroke - Power Problem

My 2000 F250 Powerstroke keeps having a problem in devloping power from idle. I did some research on this site and I replaced the CPS this afternoon. Still having the problem. I have noticed that when this occurs, many times I push the fuel pedal down several times until the check engine light comes on, then I press the brake pedal; the check engine light goes off and the engine will develop power. It's an intermentent problem. But seems to occur everytime the truck is started. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Pull the codes. If you are getting a CEL/MIL/SES, there is a code there. Might just be a throttle pedal problem but find the code.

Codes

Thanks for the reply. I've been told that the codes are only available when the service engine soon light is on??? Is that correct? If so, mine doesn't always stay on....Thanks.

The codes will remain in memory.. You need the correct type of scanner to read them...

Codes once set are stored until cleared or for I believe it is 5 start cycles if they do not reappear. Code will tell for sure but it sounds like a throttle position sensor problem. Had to replace mine last year.

I believe they are stored for about a month. Action is correct though, you can't buy a $20 code reader from the local autoparts store. You have to go to a garage that has the right one or find somone that has AutoEnginuity, or buy it yourself.

OK. Got it. Thanks. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor within the last six months. I'll take it to a garage and find out what the codes are. Thanks again to all who replied.

The checker stores in my area do it for free. You need an OBDII reader. Some programmers read the codes also. Mine does. Sounds like trottle pedal is going bad.

Probably just part of it. These truck have a terrible fuel supply system and once you fix it, the truck has a new life!
Suggest doing a search for "hutch mod".
Or just do this and be very surpised at the difference. I sure was.
