I HAVE A 97 THAT KEEPS BLOWING THE 30 AMP FUSE UNDER THE HOOD.
THE PROBLEM JUST APPEARED AND NOW THE FUSE WILL BLOW UPON TURNING THE KEY ON. I HAVE TRIED A 40 AMP AS WELL AS A 50 AMP FUSE ALL TO NO AVAIL. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH. I REPLACED THE FUSE AND IT LASTED ABOUT 4 BLOCKS. NOW IT WILL BLOW WHEN I TURN THE KEY. WHAT IS THE DEAL? IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM OR JUST AN ISOLATED INCIDENT? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. OH, MY ENGINE IS A 4.2L AND AUTOMATIC TRANS.THE FUSE BLOWING IS THE ONE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER.
I'd be looking for a "Short" in the line that is blowing. If it continues to blow 30-40 and 50 amp fuses then something is wrong. Fuses are designed to blow so you don't burn up wiring and more expensive parts. Don't go up in amperage of a fuse, you lose protection.
