JMFR, I have a stock 05 F350 4x4 CC. I have been thinking of replacing the OEM stabilizer. Having to take my daughter to school in Long Island those NY roads really brings out the "death wobble". I'm looking for better control. I notice the dual stabilizer says for 35" tires. Can it be used with the original 18"? I'm handy an by no means a mechanic, more a back yard mechanic!! Is this something a novice can tackle? An for the 64 dollar question, will the truck need a wheel alignment after the install.

On the install it is pretty straight foward and yes you can use with you stock 18 inch wheels and no alignment is required after install.

Is there drilling required for that bracket?

I have been looking at these and was getting ready to buy the Fabtech dual.

My truck has had a couple of TSB's done and I no longer have the wobble. The second TSB replaced the stock stabilizer but in the 2000 miles or so that I have driven it that thing seems like it's already losing the battle. Some people argue that the placement is poor, I agree.

bkmf250sd,

I don't know the TSB numbers but if you search for 'death wobble' you will find them.
The first TSB was the alignment, castor adjustment, check tire pressures, etc.
The second one was replace front shocks and stabilizer.

I saw a notciable improvement when they were done. But now the stabilizer seems like it is getting tired. Also, within the TSB Ford refers to the death wobble and wheel jerking as 'oscillation'.

I think that these TSB's are all that are available. If anyone knows of anything else then please let me know.

I'd be interested in hearing JMFR's take on the suspension design, the stock stabilizer location, etc. It seems like a bad design to me if other firms such as DR are making these dual kits to address a problem with the 05-07's.

snelldawg, been looking at postings on "death wobble", slow day today!! I noticed you have commented on some. Did you go with the Rough Country dual or single? Are you looking like me? Looks like some people left the OEM stabilizer on and add the dual. Wonder if it would be a good idea to replace the single OEM with a single RC stabilizer AND add the dual or is that over kill??

I haven't done anything yet. At this point, I am going with the Fabtech dual or this new Rough Country dual. I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference in them besides the shocks themselves.

From what I have heard, if you go with the double then the factory isn't needed. Some people think that the single location is part of the problem anyway.

More guys will probably post on this tonight.

There have also been reports of the factory stabilizer giving up the ghost within 6 months of in-service. Some folks have also reported that a single aftermarket stabilizer is much more robust than the factory unit/junker.

Also, tire inflation is a MAJOR factor in the death-wobble phenomenon. I had my tire pressures lowered 20 PSI to soften the ride of my SCSB, and had some minor oscillation on certain bridge decks. The dealer inflated to full pressure on the last service, and the oscillation is gone. Of course the ride is stiffer, but I'm more used to it now with 10K miles on the truck.

problem solver

I have an 07 f250 with 20" stock wheels and tires with no lift. Will the dual stabilizer bolt on without any problems with the stock steering arm?
