No Power and Erratic Speedometer

I have a 1995 F150 1/2ton 2WD 4.9 6cyl. The other day it started running like it had no power, and the speedometer was very erratic. I pulled the speedometer fuse and the truck runs fine. If I put the fuse back the truck idles okay but has no power. Any ideas? would the ABE/Speed Sensor in the rear differential have any effect on engine power?

It couldn't hurt to pull it out clean it and put it back in to find out. It makes about as much sense as pulling the speedo fuse and it runs better does. Sorry I can't be more help.

on the newer trucks like yours, it uses the vss to shift and keep overall control of the tranny. could cause the lack of power.
