As I recall, he just drilled and tapped a fitting directly into the turbo outlet.

Say hello from Gene, and see if he remembers my special duct tape installation of his chip. Tell him that his special sifting tune is working out to my satisfaction, and I haven't experienced a single PCM commanded torque demand downshift from 4th to 3rd when towing a grade. His 40 tow will be thoroughly tested Mon when I leave Reno and head up to Donner Pass.

I removed my Big Head and relief valve shortly after I installed my rebuilt turbo, and I'm now content to let the stock actuator limit boost to 22 psi which avoids de-fuel and hopefully leads to longer than 50 K on the new turbo.

sorry for the hijack but are you saying jody put something in you tune to delay downshifting?

Yes, I spent a week in Asheville last April to see if Jody could come up with a special tune to give me complete manual control over my auto so that I could use the shift lever and OD button to manually select the gears and my TC lock switch to manually engage and disengage the TC so I could use the TC like a manual clutch.

His first attempt to do this worked as planned for gears 1, 2, and 3, but since he'd disabled PCM control over the tranny, the OD button no longer worked and I couldn't shift into 4th gear.

He wound up giving me special versions of his 40 and 60 tow tunes with modified shifting which removes as much PCM control over the tranny as possible, and I switch to those when towing, and use the regular versions when running empty. I never want the PCM to shift the tranny when it's under the heavy load of towing, as that scuffs the clutches and causes excess wear. When I tow I make all shifts manually with the TC locked, and I let off the throttle to take the load off the drive line before shifts, and then get slowly back on the throttle just like shifting a manual.

Here are some background links if you want more details.

Possible 4R100 mods to make it an 8 speed manual?

I think Kris moved his MAP hookup to the hot side as well. IIRC, he drilled and tapped the intake spider, using a simple barbed fitting. I keep meaning to do this too, but it always slips my mind when I have the IC tubes off for something else. Maybe I'll do this when I install new valve springs.
