My 78 F100 wanders all over the road. Everything is fairly new and the parts seem okay. Are there any mods or adjustments to the steering box that may help or maybe a stabilizer?
well, ur first problem is buying an old ford. just about every old ford i have ever seen or drove has had that same problem. u can go through and rebuild it, but it will still want to wander. a dual stabilizer will help some, but not enough.
Good, please stay with fords, im just saying that up to about '79, the steering had a few bugs and was just a little loose. after words, that problem was addressed and taken care of in the early 80's. i dont blame u for wanting to stay with ur truck. i know how u feel.
Thanks, I have a 79 F100 with 73000 original miles(Hurricane damaged). I might pull the unit off of it and see if it helps. I also have a 79 F250 mileage???, are the steering boxes the same
My 76 drives straight as an arrow at any speed even when I let go of the steering wheel iit stays straight. Other than new heavy duty shocks the only thing I did was new king pins and bushings.
Have same problem. My F-100 goes left/right and after lifted 6" hight the raidus steering was reduced. How to increase the radius and correct the left/right movement while riding after installing new ball joints?
Thanks
