Took my truck to the dealer to get the Oil and Fuel filters changed.
They called me later asking if I wanted the injectors cleaned for an additional $155........
I told them no.
I talked with them a little later when I had the chance. They say they hook cleaning fluid machine directly to the fuel filter housing and pump cleaner thru the injectors.
I'm skeptical at best. But curious of any of the techs can tell me more as to what this procedure is and its value..... if any, which I suspect little.

Thoughts????
Run Forest run !!!! I wouldn't let them change my oil if they are really serious about wanting to flush the injectors on a 6.0.
Wow. Talk about trying to rip someone off. No way they could pump injector cleaning fluid through your injectors without pumping it through the engine since there is no return from the injectors to the tank on a stock truck. All the excess fuel is returned from the secondary fuel filter housing back to the fuel pump or fuel tank. Check out this diagram and notice that once the fuel goes to the injectors it has no way to leave the heads. http://dan.prxy.org/Truck/6L_bible_h.../Page_028.html
There's no way for the cleaning fluid to even get into your injectors without the motor running. I think the dealership would be buying me a new motor or injectors if they performed this service on MY truck.
What about the using the bolts at the end of the fuel rail. The One they use for the crossover lines. Then you could then do this, but it's not for me. I just say NO.
The only thing you'd be cleaning is the fuel rails in the head--not the injectors themselves. It's a useless procedure on the 6.0 and a waste of money. He'd be better off changing his engine oil more often and using a fuel additive than wasting his money on an injector "cleaning" procedure. It could/would actually cause more damage than good.
This is a very common thing for gasoline engines, but I've not heard of a diesel injector cleaning yet. Basically, they are sending a very strong combustible cleaner through the fuel line and injectors. They start the vehicle and let it run on this solution for a few minutes. Unlike gasoline engines, the 6.0L injectors recieve their lubrication from the fuel. Since I doubt this cleaning solution would have an equivalent lubricant in it, I too would have ran from it.
Isnt it the oil side of the injector that typically needs the cleaning?? Reason many of us have ran Hot Shots Secret and change our oil more frequently.
