Question Timing Will Not Stay Set

1986 F250 460 7.5 (ALSO WHAT IS A DOUBLE ROLLER)

We Have Put In New Pick Up In Dizzy
New Timing Chain
New Coil
New Ecm???????????????????????

What is your actual problem? The engine doesn't act right, or you can't get the timing light to work correctly?

Double roller is a type of timing chain and sprocket set you can buy.

I think allwthrrider is right. A VERY good mechanic friend of mine recently told me of an engine in his fleet that grenaded itself because it would not hold time. Turned out that the distributor was worn out. He told me he could grab the dist shaft and it was tight in some directions, but not in others. Grab it, and try to move it in all directions. If it moves, there's your problem.

Take a look at the cam gear on the distibuter, it could be worn down or even missing one tooth. One tooth will cause the timing to be off quite a bit.

Since you have the distibuter out take a look and the gear on the cam as well, can't see all of it but can get a good idea of its condition as well.

You Might not even be able to move it enough by hand to tell,On my 390 my timing was jumping around from 12 deg btdc to 2 deg after but it all seemed normal. Only after changing the whole thing did it stay put

It could be an ignition module that is on the blink.
