Oil Temp Guage Install

I have a 99 F350 and I am installing new gauges and I have an oil temp gauge but I cannot find the NPT port to hook up the probe. I also have a fuel pressure gauge, a boost and a pyrometer. I would also like to know the best ways to hook up those. If anyone has done this and can help me out that would be great. I am trying to get all the gauges done this weekend. thanks

For the oil temp sender that is probably 1/8 NPT (correct?) There is a plug just above the oil filter, in the aluminum housing that the oil filter screws into. Be ready to screw in the sender because some oil will come out! (no, don't lick it )

For the oil temp, look around the block where the oil filter housing is. This is where the oil bypass filter systems hook up to. I'm sure there are other options as well.

Fuel pressure sending unit, on the back of the fuel filter housing is a plug that can be removed to install a sending unit. This plug is not NPT so an adapter is needed. Most of the web diesel sites sell them. Might be able to get it at the hardware store.

No directions came with the gauges?

I have looked all around the oil filter and have not been able to find a place. the block heater screws in above the filter but I thought that the block heater heated the coolant. there are a couple of plugs going in the actual engine block but they do not look big enough. as for the fuel pressure guage. I am not sure which one I should use. Could somone maybe send me some pics of where these things go. the directions they gave are not very clear and I dont want to scew anything up. I am sure you guys know what I mean. Thanks for your help

Click the link in my sig, "My Pics" and it will take you to my webshots. In there, look in my "Gauges" gallery for some ideas on where to hook up oil. I've got an oil pressure sensor in my block, near the oil filter that you can use. Also, look in my "Filtration" gallery, specifically where the hoses for my Oil Guard are tapped into the oil filter head unit. That's another spot where the sending unit can go.

For fuel pressure, you'll need an adapter, and you can put it in the back of the fuel bowl. ITP sells the adapter, or you can take the plug out of the fuel bowl, head to the hardware store, and find one with the same threads.

Thanks for the pics. but I am looking for a 1/2" NPT or a 3/8". Is there any way I could get an adapter for a 1/8" into a 1/2". I thought this was going to be the easiest gauge to put in but itd turning out to be the hard one also the fuel pressure is turning out to be difficult. the pyro was the easiest so far and I thought that was going to be the hard one. thanks for all your help guys I love the input. keep it comin in.

I noticed a NPT in the actual block right above the pan behind the oil filter. do you think that will work. to me it seems like it wont give a very good reading from there but I dont know much about it.

No, don't use that. It's not under pressure nor is it actually in the oil sump. That's the port that is used for identifying which type of connecting rod you have, and most oil filtration return lines are plumbed there. At least thats where mine is.
