f1 hood

When we purchased our 1948 f1 the hood was already removed(. My son and
I are slowly building a street rod) Today I started putting the front of the truck together. It has a camaro ifs - so it will be difficult to fit the fenders hood etc.
I discovered that two bolts were broken off on the drivers side hinge - I'll deal with the bolts later. BUT, WHAT I REALLY NEED is some pictures of an f1 hinge to show how to install it. I will most grateful if anyone can post some pictures.

Here's a couple of pics, I hope they help

Pics are a bit old, but they should give you some idea of how things go together

thanks Bobby
I think that I was going the right direction with the hood hinge but I cannot seem to get all three connections (on one side) to line up correctly. Could be because I dam working alone and the hood is bulky

It very well could be. I took mine off and on by myself, but then again its not like I have to worry about scratching the paint.
Step back from hit, consume a frosty beverage or two and try again. I think I bolt the spring units on first and then worked at getting the hinge arms in place but I can't remember. Another person would definatley help (of course that means the supply of frosties get diminished alot quicker also so you have to plan ahead)

It's hard to figure out hood the non-springed part goes on. I have taken off and installed many hoods and it always take me a little time to figure out how they go one. Here's a sketch of the part, this is the drivers side view:

The easiest way to mount the hood, especially if you're doing it alone (I have done many times) is to lay a heavy blanket or other protection across your fenders. First bolt the springed hinges to the firewall, lay them down into the engine compartment. Then bolt the other hinges to the side of the firewall. Place the hood over the engine compartment and raise the back of the hood. I usually just stick my hand under the hood and feel around and catch the side hinges on the shouldered holes and install two bolts in each. Then raise the hood and support it with a 2X4. Then carefully insert the pins from the springed hinge into the braces in the hood.

It is best to have someone help you so if you can, find someone to help.
