Sometimes my truck idled rough and I thought it might be clogged injectors. I was at WalMart getting my oil changed and they asked if I wanted my injectors cleaned for $19.95. They told me about how they see all this black smoke coming from exhaust when they do it and the vehicles run much better. The guy asked how many miles I had on my truck, I told him 120,000 he said with that many miles and if you never had them cleaned your going to see a lot of junk coming out and the truck will run better. I figured for $20.00 I'd give it a try. They did the treatment and no black smoke came out nothing. The guy said I never seen one that didn't blow smoke after the cleaning. I laughed and said well their goes $20.00. As much as I didn't think this treatment did anything my truck does run better and it idles smooth, I even think I might be getting better gas mileage, that's something I'll have to check.
what kind of gas do you guys use?--- i live in Illinois and most of the gas is 10% alcohol. thats like running a gallon of injector cleaner thru the motor every week. things stay nice and shinny inside and injectors have no problems with 250-300,000 miles!
I would bet they put a can of seafoam in and call it good. I could write a book from all the horror stories I have heard from friends who worked at the wally world monkey lubes. If you truly want the injectors cleaned and the carbon build up taken care of go to a NAPA service center and get a motorvac done for around $90.
That's just like all the horror stories from ex-Jiffy Lube guys. Blown motor because someone forgot to put oil in the motor after draining old oil. Oil plug falls out and motor siezes. Forgot to put on new oil filter (removed old one).
Uhh... This might just be me, but, um, if you're doing an oil change, how do you forget to put new oil in? That's like... making biscuits and gravy without the gravy. It just doesn't make sense.
Whats walmart now trying to shut down all the small local shops now too?
youw ill have 2 choices soon.. WALMART or the STEALERSHIP.... wouldnt suprise me if WALMART started selling new trucks too.. they are pretty much disposable anymore.. all the damn plastic..

It's easy when your procedure is set up to be the fastest it can possibly be and not set up to be the best it can possibly be. They typically have one guy in the pit draining and changing filters and another guy up top putting in oil. All it takes is for the guy putting oil in to go take a dump while a car rolls through and nobody knows the difference until it's too late.

If I remember correctly, walmart as partnered with a national used car chain. I think Texas was the test run. It could have been car mart, but I'm not sure of the name.
They used a two part product made by Gumout. They claim it's the same product that is used at Ford and other places that charge $90.00 or more for the same service. I was sure I wasted my money and as much as I didn't want to believe it worked, it worked. If your thinking about having it done I would do it soon because I would bet they are going to raise the price as they did recently with the prices on oil changes. I went to WalMart for oil changes because it was much cheaper even though I had to wait a few hours for the work to be done, I had the store to look around in. After my last oil change and what they charged I can go anywhere for an oil change and be within a few dollars and not have to wait 2 hours. I might even go back to doing my own oil changes since the price is so high now.
It's not the same product if it's made by Gumout. Every dealer and reputable independent I know of around here uses BG products for services like that.
