i have same problem..

fordstroker, check your mailbox, sent you a message.
I also have this same problem you are talking about. I have almost 10,000 miles and it has been doing off and on. It sucks, but havn't had time to take to dealer yet. Let me know what you find.

I also have the same problem. It happens more if I'm just under highway speed (say merging on) and getting on it a bit. It starts to accelerate, and then drops suddenly off with white smoke flying. Letting off the accelerator a bit lets the engine "catch its breath" and everything returns to normal. As this is my first diesel, I was thinking that it was related to turbo lag, or the turbo not spinning up at all and the engine ends up too rich. I've been wanting to watch the psi as this happens, but it always catches me off guard.

FYI, F350, crew cab, 4x4 w/ 10,700 miles and loving everything about it ... except this.

yep thats exactly it...who know what the dealer will do..its hard to show them exactly whats going on unless their gonna sit there and ride around with you all day..it is just irritating when you're trying to get up to speed but your truck won't go and its blowing white smoke out, so everyone around you knows you have a problem..but yea i love everything about the truck except for this...

I started viewing this forum last week and am just posting for the 1st time. I had/have the same problem ie: sputtering, white smoke on acceleration, but it happens only after I've been on the highway for a while. When I stop and then try to accelerate again that's when I get the problem. I took mine to 2 different Ford dealers and both told me that it didn't act up w/ them and since there are no codes, warning lights, etc. they can't diagnose & fix it. Just gotta wait til Ford figures it out, or hopefully the aftermarket will fix it ( like Bankspower ).

Some F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with the 6.4L diesel may exhibit one or more of the following concerns: lacks power, leaks oil, fuel or coolant from the tail pipe, abnormal tailpipe sediment, white smoke or ash, exhaust smell, knock or rattle, elevated idle, surge, crankcase oil level over-full, MIL On, DTC's P0087, P2291, P0263-P0284, P0300-P0308, P1336, P132B, P2262, P2263, P244C or P244D. If you are experiancing any of these concerns, then take it to your dealer and have them refer to TSB # 07-8-9.

Hope this helps.

I have been experiencing similar problems with my truck as well. Hesitation, black and white smoke, exhaust smell, and a knock/rattle. I took it to the dealer yesterday to have it looked at. They called me back today and told me that they did the reflash as per instructions from Ford, but it did not fully cure my problems. They said that they were working with Ford's "6.4 hotline" and they would call me tomorrow with updates. I'll let ya know how I made out!

Okay dealer called me back and gave me the biggest line of bull***** i've ever heard in my life. First, they tried to tell me that i've been using low sulfer instead of ultra, I told them that was negative. I've never put the wrong fuel in! Then, they told me I need to use Ford Cetane boost, which I told them I already am. Then, get this, they told me they had a code that stated I had reached 95mph and this truck wasn't designed to handle that kind of speed. In fact, he told me that the maximum speed that engine is designed for is 81mph!!!!! WTF!!!! If that was the case, they should have put a governor on at 81, not 96. He also told me that it could possibly void my warranty if continue to speed above 95mph. Does anybody know a number to Ford so I can call and bitch?????

Oh, I forgot to mention, the truck is still blowing black smoke, but they told me to pick it up and see how I like it. What a joke..

i didnt think ford computers held any information

otherwise they would hold a code after the check engine light went out (prob that wont stay broken)

i know cummins will keep that info...my fleet trucks have that info avail if i want to see it....hi engine revs, emer stop etc

but it was my understanding that the only time a ford computer held any info was when the trouble light was on....

one of our f550 was driven 25 miles with check engine light on to the ford dealership to get looked at....it was ont he way back to the shop....well when he pulled into the parking lot the light went out....no codes to see...

i guess we'll wait for it to die

Been having a similar problem on the highway between 50 - 70mph only when under heavy throttle. Truck just sputters and doesn't want to go at all. Had a warning light come on while out of town the day after it first happened, took it to a local dealership, service manager told me I probably had some bad diesel, he did not have a hand held diagnostic to pull the code & it would be 4 days before he could look at it. Taking it in to my dealership today, but the warning light went off about an hour after it came on.
