Hi guys, new to this forum but not to the newsgroup. I am looking at an 03 F250, S/C longbed with the the 5.4 with 60k on it for around 18k. Did this year have drive by wire?Truck looks pretty clean, just a little wet around the transmission and I'm waitin on an Oasis report. anything you 03 owners can tell me to watch out for?
Thank you kindly
Rich
I have an 03 5.4L and haven't had any major trouble yet. I got mine with 29K and now have 80K. Other than normal maintenance, I've had the front brakes done (still had pad, just squealed a lot), and I just juiced up the AC (bought a kit from Wal-Mart...took a half a can, now I have cold AC again!). Otherwise, no problems. Been a super truck. If you're looking at towing anything big though, I wouldn't recommend it. It tows my 26' travel trailer just fine, but I wouldn't want to go anything heavier.
Thanks for the info. I had an oasis report done and nothing comes up at all for warranty work? Is that a good thing or bad? Truck looks pretty clean except for the wet transmission mounts. I don't really plan on towing with it except for an occasional 5000lb trailer maybe once a year.
Thanks
Rich
HEY DUDE hope you get it MY 03 is an xlt s/c,sb,5.4,4x4 wih 4:10ls, got it last nov. it has a snowplow (made about 3000$ last winter)got it with 62000 now has 68000 it has stock size tires. changed the oil twice and a new alt, batt (truck sat for a year before i got it) new balljoints in jan07 hrpertech III tuner set on mid setting new brakes all the way around in june all said not to bad for a used plow truck
I have an 03 5.4. I have 21K mile on it. I have had to replace all 4 rotors, and I did pads because I had it apart. Fuel tank sending unit went bad at 1K miles, and the ball joints went bad last winter around 19K miles. So far, it has been pretty sound engine/transmission wise.
I have an 03 F350 5.4L 4x4 with a manual trans. It has been great so far. I bought it used at 70,000 and now have 83,000. I don't know about anything specific to 03 SD's, but I can tell you to start saving for front ball joints if they haven't already been done. They fail on a regular basis. Just check around the forums, you'll see what I mean.
