I don't believe the factory ever did it but yes you can. The front one should have a switch to release the locker. Most are operated by air and are for extreme off road use.
Just to clarify what your asking, you are talking about differential locks and not hub locks, correct?
My 1980 has factory "limited slip" front and rear. Not the same as a "locker" you switch on and off, but it's all that was available from the factory.
It acts a little wierd in the snow with the front limited slip. I can actually "steer" the rear of the truck back and forth on a snowy road with the steering wheel. And I have to come to a complete stop if I want to turn into a driveway or something like that, off a snow covered road.
you can lock both ends of it.. arbs are about 750 a end.. if you install yoruself.. they are air lockers.. or you could use a detroit in the rear its about 500, or like i did on my sterline rear i just welded the open carrier and make it like a spool.. worked great offroad and wasent horrible in town.. but wasent great in the summer on dry pavement turning either.. but it was less then 5 bucks in welding rod..
