How Long ?
Due to recent recalls on toys and other things
How long until the consumers of North America stop wanting products made in China ?
With the need of consumers for lower costs of products...the manufacturing companies of North America have become extinct because of workers want of higher wages and benefits.
What is your thought on commerce with Asia countries ?
We know Japan has been a leader of technology and Korea has been on the coat tails of Japan.
But, do you think North America can regain a superior product for less $$$$ than it used to be ... so as to align itself as competition against Asian companies ?

hey were behind in school education, and thats were it starts. adult consumers see that kids, who are our future, will tend to grow up with more wits than someone who would have less of an education.
people are led to believe they are buying a superior product (foreign) than what the domesticated man here can produce.
and they do put out a fine product.
and they will continue to do that as well. just because the domestic automakers are going to do better, doesnt mean that the competition is going to do a decline in quality.
kinda like the yanks chasing the bosox. yanks gotta win and bosox gotta lose, aint gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Modern kids are pansies, in my day we played with metal Tonka dump trucks, they'd kill someone if you threw it at them. Might as well start putting kids in big plastic bubble suits, theres always gonna be something that'll "kill little billy".
I still try to shop around and purchase products made in the USA or Canada, sometimes it just cant be found so I have to buy foreign.

I always look for the "Made In U.S.A." label.
But unfortunately, it's few and far between.
So I'm forced to buy products that are "Forced/Cheap Labored" from other countries.
I don't tend to buy much anyway.

That's Auto parts.
I am wondering why there has been any " I'm never buying things made in china anymore type replies.
That's what I talking about .. American's wanting to get their factories back and the worker
vs
Asian things and cheap labour for cheap goods.
Toys, tools. school supplies,etc,etc, etc
Where is the out cry ?

I'm not sure where the outcry is but it seems that people aren't catching on that there is a problem just yet. With all the problems that they have been having lately I'm scared to think what it might take to make them figure it out.
As for myself I admit that until recently I didn't pay much attention to where products were made, but lately the few things that I have been buying I have been looking if they are made in the Canada/USA. Unfortunatly there isn't much out there that is made over here anymore. I think we need to take widespread and VERY noticable action and soon!
I'm not sure if anybody else has seen the bumper sticker that says "Out of a job yet? Keep buying foreign!", but it fits perfectly.

Right now, I don't think North America will catch up to Asian Commerce for the very reason you mentioned, North American's want higher wages and benefits which in turn increases the cost of products. So, superior products then become so much more expensive than products made overseas, therefore become unaffordable to many people. No matter how much we would like to buy our own products, we are forced to buy imported ones.
On another note, if you do find a product "made in the USA/Canada" and it's cheaper than one from overseas, Is it superior? Or is it inferior?

a long time i fear, Mil1ion. We're selling out and losing the innovation too.
One of our last leads is high-tech and computer sales...China bought IBM PC a while ago and the ROC Acer just bought Gateway. We're slowly losing the inventiveness
as the PRC begins innovating with web portals Sina.net and Sohu, search engine Baidu their Google, game seller Shanda, auctioneer Alibaba, and comm and gaming inventor Tencent. Their Aerospace is not far behind, with us and Russia selling them many advanced systems to copy.
And India is coming...
But we have the iPhone! ...er....where is that made?

standard of living in exchange for the work they perform. Much sooner there will be
western style monitoring of quality safety and purity of the products sent here,
increasing the cost of these goods. Meanwhile the businesses that distribute and
provide warranty service for these goods may find it a strain to handle further problems
with product quality and the ensuing scares that result. So many manufacturing
facilities have been lost in order to compete with offshore companies, it is going to
take a very long time to rebuild, should the circumstances merit it. And placing blame might be a momentary relief, but it will not have the same benefit that witnessed success in a domestic business can offer. Many people now know how industry can
fail, we need to work on how it can succeed.

It's greed, and it's been going on for about as long as I remember -- and I'm a 46 model.
It's not Walmart, China , Japan, or anyone else. Everybody wants good stuff, and nobody wants to pay for it.
Where's the outcry -- where's the US stuff? It's awfully hard to find.
- Clothes -- good luck
- Electronics -- give me a break
- Tools -- it's getting tougher
- Vehicles -- we still have some chance, but it can be complicated
- Is it better to buy a Yoda that was supposedly built with 50%
American stuff, or a Ford with 30% ( as some claim is true for some
models)? I'd still buy the Ford.

It's a tough problem. In any event, we'll probably lose some standard of living
