Are you sure you have the right nuts? If the stud is threaded all the way down there's no reason for it to get that tight before it seats.

Well...to clarify. With these made in india mounts, the rubber mount itself doesnt even come into contact with the frame pad, there's about 1/4" of space between the mount and the pad. The stud itself just sits in the bottom of the slotted hole, and the whole engine basically just pivots on the stud. When you try to tighten them down to pull the mounts into the pad, you're basically just stretching the easiest thing to stretch, which would be the stud, which apparently arent very strong at all and just snap right off.
