There is a single Mom down the street I helped take care of her 1990 Grand Voyager, her window broke at about 15-16 years old and over 200,000 miles. When I took it apart from what I remember It had a lot of plastic parts also. What a difference. But the dealer wanted around $500 for a replacement assembly. I bought a whole door at the junk yard for $120. I wanted the switches also.

I think IMHO means "in my honost/humble opinion", something like that. I came up with that on my own. I hear lol means "laugh out loud", I think it could also mean "lots of luck". Hope it helps.

When you say "regulator", is that what I would
call an electric motor? I have a 2000 150 Florida
truck and both windows are "sluggish".

The motor is just that, the electric motor. What it is mounted to is the regulator. The motor operates the regulator and the regulator is actually what moves the glass

Txleo-3,
Are you saying three window motors went out?

The regulator has gone out on 3 of 4 windows. Ford has given no reason they should have failed, just that it does happen sometimes.

Just try and talk to the dealership where you bought the truck. All four of mine went out and my truck is only 2.5 yrs old. They helped me out by charging me $35 to replace the last one that went out. They told me heat really destroys them.

Evilwaz7,
Did the regulators fail or the elctric motor?
I bought a Florida truck last month and
my two big door windows are sluggish,
especially at the mid-point. I lubricated
one regulator but that has not helped.
Trying to figure out the next step.

I have replaced three so far. The two front ones went out the same day! Whats the odds of that. They are pure junk. Ford needs to step up and recall them.

+1!!! It is obviously an issue.

I called Ford and was got nowhere. She apologized and told me to talk to the dealership. They are the ones that recommended calling the corporate number. I am waiting to hear from the Regional Service Mngr.

The regulators failed. They are one whole unit inside the door. You can take the motor out of the regulator assembly but the dealership said you have to replace the whole part. The motors on mine were fine but the cables fall apart because the parts they are made out of are junk.

I called Ford Motor Company directly and got no help from them because they said it is not a safety issue. I think otherwise. They did nothing. I called the dealership where I bought the truck and since I take it there for all my services they used a program they have for loyal customers. I really appreciated this and they scored points with me big time. Hope you get the help you need from the place you bought the truck.

Recalls are never issued for items like this unless the window regulator can cause serious injury or lead to a fire or total vehicle breakdown. So with this in mind, contacting Ford on this issue is going to get you nowhere. Usually if you have a good service relationship with your dealer and it is a common problem, (I've never had it happen in mine) and your less than a year or 20k out of warranty they are usually willing to help out with a goodwill gesture and will probably charge a small deductable like the 35.00 charge. Plastic rollers on regulators breaking are common on all vehicles, not just fords and trust me when I say this, being able to buy the regulator alone without the motor as one piece is a blessing. This is why its usually around the 500.00 mark on most brands of vehicle. I'd much rather hear that my truck may suffer a window reg problem rather than a headgasket every 50k miles like the 95-2000 dodge 2.0l or 2.4l. Just my .02 cents.
