MSD 6a rotor button ?

MSD 6a rotor button ?
Anybody had a problem or know of a problem with the MSD 6a rotor button, had a bad miss start but then stopped, then a couple times after it came unto operating temp, it died right in the middle of the freeway !!! coasted of to the side, checked the wiring, fuel etc... got back and it started ??? got home pulled the dist cap and the rotor button had a hole burnt into it + the cap's carbon tip was rather worn, this system only had 4300 miles ! is the common for MSD's ??
