This past weekend I noticed a squeeking when I was in 4 wheel drive going up hill. It sounded like it was coming from the front of the truck so I crawled under there and looked for play in the driveshaft. The U-Joint on the T-Case side has a bunch of play in it. I'm wondering if I should take the driveshaft off, drop it off at Napa or a driveline shop and have them replace the U-Joint OR I could get one of these kits
and do it myself OR my least favorite option take it to my mechanic. Since I work so much I'm leaning towards taking it to my mechanic but if the other two options aren't very time consuming then I would like to do it myself. Since I have a jeep too I think the kit might be a good investment. What do you guys think?
Borrow the Giant C-Clamp at AutoZone and do it your self. If the U-Joints are rusted in, I would take it in to get replaced. (Fronts are harder to do since it has the double cardan joint)
I just had both of my drive shafts done at the drive line shop.I would normally do them myself but the double carden c.v. joints I am not so great with.It cost me $200 for the whole front drive shaft.Thats 3 total ujoints the spring and ball that goes between and a high speed balanceing.
