I Am Coming Up On My First Oil Change. My Dad Has A 7.3 And He Uses Rotella T And Has Told Me To Spend The Extra Money Because It Lasts Longer And Is Better For The Engine. Just Wanted To Know What Everyone Uses? Thanks
Extra money?? Dino Rotella is one of the cheaper oils out there at less than $10/gal. I put in Delo this time (WM was out and I had to change it) but I usually run syn Rotella (which is ~$16/gal). I like the stuff -- it has run in these engines for years and years, and for millions and millions of miles. Can't argue with that!!
There is probably a bigger group of diesel owners running Rotella than other brands. Any diesel oil that is CJ-4 rated will work fine (CI-4 is no longer available).
Personally I run Synthetic Rotella. Much much easier winter starts than the regular stuff.
So Synthetic Would Be The Route To Take? I Just Got My Diesel Last December, I Know About Gas Oils And Stuff But Not That Much About Diesel Motors. So What Is The Best Oil For A Motor With 119000 Miles? I Want My Truck To Last!!
defanitely the route to take is synthetic. It's perfectly fine to switch over at anytime. I was running 5w40 rotella for the longest time, i switched out to Schaeffers 9000 5w-40 and love it so far (been a week). Truck feels more responsive and others who have run it picked up .4 sec in the 1/4 mile, and say the Schaeffers really cleans the engine out, and makes it run much stronger. Time will tell. Stuff is very expensive though.

I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD SWITCH AT ANYTIME. HOW EXPENSIVE IS Schaeffers 9000 5w-40?
Call Schaeffer's (google Schaeffers oil ) and find a sales rep in your area. Best part is its delivered right to your house. It will be the best money you ever spent. JMO
I've been running Schaeffer's for over a year now, and won't run anything else. Like Kris, my truck ran better after I switched. It is more expensive, but you can typically run it 2-3 times longer than most other oils out there, so the cost gets offset by the longer drain intervals.
You have had your truck since last December and this is going to be your first oil change?? 9 months?? how many miles between oil changes are you going??

I just made the same change that Kris made, but from the Amsoil DEO 5w40 syn. I, too, really like the way the engine is running with the Schaeffer oil. However, in terms of having it shipped to your door, that will only happen if your placed an order of at least $300 worth of Schaeffer products. If you only want the one oil change, you still have to purchase a full case. My case of 6 one-gallon jugs was about $97, which comes to a little under $16/gallon. The Rotella-T 5w40 syn at my local Walmart is almost $17/gallon, and then there is sales tax on top of that.
Find a regional rep, see who he delivers to in your area, and get them to place the order for you. Otherwise, you'll have to work out a way to connect your adn your regional rep's time schedules directly, which may not be as convenient as having a local store order it and get it in for you to pick up at your convenience.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY TRUCK FROM FORD THEY DID THE OIL CHANGE BEFORE I PICKED IT UP. IT HAD ABOUT 116000 WHEN I BOUGHT IT , THE OIL CHANGE IS AT ABOUT 119000.

NAPA IS USUALLY PRETTY GOOD ABOUT SPECIAL ORDERS AND SUCH. MAYBE THEY COULD JUST ORDER IT AND I MIGHT HAVE TO PAY ALITTLE EXTRA YOU THINK OR SHOULD I JUST GO THE ROUTE OF FINDING A REP?
