Post UHF/VHF ham radio installation pics

I finally got around to installing my Icom 207H in the new F-150. The main body of the radio is mounted under the rear of the driver's seat and the remote front panel is mounted to the ash tray door with double stick tape (good stuff that holds well and doesn't leave a mess when removed - don't remember the brand):

Used a trunk lip mount on the back side of the rear door and ran the coax down the outer seal......

......and in though a plug that leads behind the plastic trim panel behind the rear seat:

This antenna works well but doesn't let me pull into my 7' tall garage door without folding it down:

I ordered a Comet SBB-1 16" flexible antenna that I'll use most of the time, and switch to the longer one for extended trips away from home.

When I first got into the hobby, I met a few hams in this area through a local club. It kind snowballs from there, especially if you go to swap meets and events like field day. Unfornunately, the local repeaters are getting too quiet lately. Old timers pass away, few young people join the hobby, and we middle aged people are too busy. I guess it's just a sign of the changing times.

Thanks for the great pix of your rig install and the cool way you ran the cables. clamps are good! back when i was flying, i used to have an aviation ht in my truck to listen in while i was driving (trainee controllers are way funnier than talk radio) and the magnetic antenna was always departing the aircraft, so to speak, going TWAnggTHUMPwhackawhackaggd at the worst times.

and hey, KC8CFP and Matt, as soon as I get my ham ticket we can chat. I'm taking a class this month.. I think you're right lots of hams are too busy, here's what some edmonton hams did on summer vacation:

Bad Photo Links

Any chance we can get those 5 year old photos back on line?

I'm installing a HAM radio in my Ex, and am looking for suggestions.
