Hi there folks I am new here and happy to see a site such as this that deals with these model years. I have spent many times trying to find afteremarket parts or anything to help make my truck be more than it was intended from the factory. as I have discovered it seems like these years are like the ugly step child of all the other years. Anyway to my point... I have a 1989 f150 2wd and a 1989 f150 4wd. the two wheel is in fantastic condition but the six is shot and the tranny leaks realy bad. the four wheel is all smashed up and the back part of the frame is pratically a rust colony. So is there any way I can bolt the front suspension from the 4wd to the frame of the 2wd??? I would like to take the 305 and tranny which are in great working order along with the 4wd front and rear getup and make a really nice 4x4 but not sure if the frame would support the gear or if the frames are oll the same just different stuff bolted on...im jabbering im sorry.

Welcom to FTE. Yes the frames are the same. You can unbolt all parts and bolt op the 4x4 stuff. I was going to do this to a 89 2x4 but found a 88 4x4. I still have the 89 incase I severly crash the 88 offroad. Check out my gallery for pics.
I hope this helps. Doing this swap would also be a good time to install a lift if you dont already have one.
