I have an '84 F-150 4WD, 302 w/ a fuel problem. I'm not getting any fuel to the carb. I replaced the fuel pump today, blew out all the fuel lines, and am still not getting any fuel out of the pump. The truck was sitting for a couple of months, but why no fuel w/ a new pump. I replaced the engine 3 years ago with a rebuilt long block and it's been running great. I am stumped. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Some times fuel pumps fail and drain into the crank case. Check to see what you oil level is and smell it for gas. Remove the line from the carb and see if you get fuel through it.
If not you may need to prime the carb to help it get started. If that does not work, try blowing on the fuel tank and see if you get any gas out of the line feeding the pump, may have a filter plugged up.
A year ago I just bought a used car for my daughter for school. A few things wrong, but it ran good, and the guy I bought it from said "everything worked". I get down to the bottom of the driveway and it quits, and will not start. I walk back up thinking I really got took. Then my wife calmly suggests maybe it's out of fuel? But the fuel guage said it had half a tank? Well I poured a few gallons in it, and it started right up. Boy I am glad I am married.
