I also posted this question in the 'Wiring' section, didnt know where to put it...
Little 'back-story'... Had (still have) a 91 Full Size Bronco that I installed a new Sony CD player/radio, a 250 W amp, and 2 - 12in. subs.
I have recently bought a 06 Expedition. I like the radio that is in it, it has the internal CD changer and stuff. Is it possible to hook up the amp and speakers to this factory radio or do I have to buy a new one?
More than likely the stock stereo will not have RCA outputs to go to the amplifier. So, the other option is if the amplifier has "low-level" inputs. These are where you take the speaker outputs (front or rear, depending on what you want) from the stereo directly into the amplifier and then out of the amplifier as normal.
I am 99% sure that the part you need is a line out converter. It is hooked up to a set of speaker wires, and then converts the signal to a low level input which is needed for a subwoofer application. If you search on Google 'er something i think you should be able to find it.
You are right Greens, if the amplifier does not accept low-level input. If it does, which some do, then it's straight from the stereo with no extra part.
