I know theres a few fellow overclockers in the forum, just wondering what your limits have been on overvoltage, over clocking ect. Is there a certain ratio of voltage to clock speed you go up? I've got my intel prescott 2.93 up to a 3.3 right now with a dimm speed of 450. I've got my clock up to a 150, with a voltage of 1.435. The normal for this processor is 1.435. What do you think the max voltage for this proccessor is? I'm only runnin about 125*F under full load, which I think is pretty good. I have a water cooling setup im going to put back on it, and see what I can get out of this good ole' prescott.
I've never tried overclocking but I've wanted to. I know the theory behind it, it's jsut that I know I would fry my computer the first time I tried, thats just my luck.
I know I haven't being paying attention to computers for a while but 125* doesn't seem to bad, maybe a tad hot. But like I said it's been a while since I've paid attention to that stuff. That was where I spent most of my time on the web before I found this place.
i don't over-clock but do have a Prescott in my computer and it normally runs at 42* C which is like 107* F which is normal because these Prescott processors are made to run hotter but 157* F is kinda pushing it, i have read many articles and you can search online that anything over 60* C is not good for your processor and will dramatically reduce its life and you running at about 69* C which is damn near setting the thing on fire lol well no not really but i know its not good, i'd turn it down a little and try to stay around 60* C unless you plan on buying a new processor soon, if so then shoot turn it up and see how it handles it.
ok 120 sounds more normal, i was gonna say 157 even with liquid cooling is pretty amazing if your processor could handle it but i doubt it would last for long.
