I have a 99 F 350 with 148k
Is re-doing the exhaust (Y-pipe and aftermarket hi-flo Cat) worth anything.
This is the low HP V10, but as I understand little things can make a big difference with this YM.
I recently upgraded my TT to a 10k TH and tends to slow to 50mph on 6%+ grades.
Y pipe will probably help the most (if your not thinking headers), and the CAt would have more effect on sound than anything. i think the Magnaflow CAT's make a good sound (companied with a good baffle style muffler)!
I'm looking for performance without being loud. During the week its my wifes minivan.
If headers will liven it up I'm open to them. I just need a little more umph to stay in OD on the rolling terrain and tackle grades of 6% or more.
Its not terrible just looking to see if small things can open it up a little.
i have headers and a flowmaster y pipe and flowmaster muffler with no cats and 3 inch piping coming out before my rear passenger tire and after changing my exhaust 6 times i noticed the y pipe was the best addition aside from the headers.
the BANKS headers woke my 2000 V10 up, big time! if you not going with the headers, then at least the Y pipe, that will make a big difference too!
surprising that the 4.30's don't keep you in OD...........what size tires are you running and how much are you towing? you might look into a gearvendors under/over drive unit, if you can justify the 3-4K? if you can't justify the under/over drive unit, then you might look into a slight gear change, maybe to a 4.56/4.88.........it would take alittle of your top end out, but it would also get you more into the power range (2000-2300 rpm's)..........
Tires 235/70-16
Stock truck
Trailer is 30ft Toyhauler weighing between 10-12k
It will hold OD but at 60mph it shifts out on slight hills/udulations in terrain.
There is no flat ground for 400mi in any direction.
