Are you sure your calipers aren't hanging up? A good sign is hot spots causing shimmy when braking. Take your calipers off and sand off the rust on all contact surfaces where the pad plates slide on the caliper mounts and lube them with the appropriate grease. I have to do this every two years on my Super Duty 4WD. I can tell as there is a clunk when I start up indicating the calipers finally releasing. Helps with gas mileage too.

hi, its been quite some time since i posted this thread but its great to think that it still shows interest.
i posted for further help and finally found the answer. the main bolts holding the drivers side wishbone onto the chassis were not as tight as they should have been and were causing the knock- movement. thanks bokker.
