i cant find the old topic we had going on this modification, but i said its worth upgradeing from our intake to the superduty intake, many people were unsure if there would be any point to this mod, we looky here, i found a pic for ya!
you decide if its worth doing, especially since its direct bolt on for the intercooled guys, all i have to do for mine is change my orange x-pipe yubes
late 99- 03 they are stock, i used the early 99 x-pipe for my intercooler so when i find a set of these intakes in the junk yard they will be direct bolt on for me
Thats cool!! I had some left over intercooler boots from the SD spyder that I was going to use before I got my ram air, now I can go get some and put them to use!! Go info c00n, where did you pick those up anyways?
which one? the "x-pipe" is called a compressor manifold, pn 6k889, the orange boots are intake manifold tubes, pn 6c640(same as cac tubes), the intake is called an intake manifold cover pn 9e434, ford considers the intake as part of the cylinder head on our trucks
you must have the early 99 x-pipe, the x-pipe outlet is the same as the later trucks, but they come with step down orange boots to meet the intake, the early 99's used the same cover as ours, not the best shot but its all i have on here right now, all you have to do after installing the bigger intake cover is add the other orange boots, the are a connector instead of a reducer
makes perfect sense, i just didnt have the time to gather it all up
parts list
1 6.0 intercooler
1 box full of cac tubes and clamps
1 early 99 x-pipe
2 00-03 intake covers
2 00-03 intake cover connectors and hose clamps
1 bag of magic patience
C00n, if your going to do the intake covers, you need to ditch the crappy x-pipe and get a ram air like what I have, it flows a lot better then the x-pipe
