Shrinking heat

I don't have acetylene torch, do the hand held soldering torches have enough heat to shrink 14 ga metal ?

I don't think so, the propane torch doesn't have a hot enough or concentrated enough heat. You will have a too big of an area heated up before the metal will get hot enough.

They make some heat guns that go to 2500 degrees, I'm going to try one for S&G's.

I have a shrinking disk I am going to try (if I ever get that far). I do not have an acetylene torch either.

14 ga is fairly heavy to be trying to shrink with heat. A shrinking disc will probably not generate enough heat for metal that thick. John Kelly is a metal wizard and has regular posts on the HAMB but he is also found at http://metalshapers.org/101/jkelly/index.html
The metalshapers site is very good if you are looking to develop your skills with metal. I bought a shrinking disc from John Kelly a couple of years ago and I find that it really works magic with most sheetmetal...however, I have never attempted to work 14 ga metal with it.
