We sent the St. Bernard on ahead, with a keg of sippin whiskey.... but the elves might have tested it to make sure it was good so I don't know how much is left. :-)
I have plenty of sippin whiskey left. Elijah Craig 12 year old, Bulliet, and Evan Williams. I've been tryin to be good. Just a shot at night. And I even missed a few nights. 40+ ceeeegars left. But I'd never turn down a taste. And I love dogs. I really miss Ben and Shadow. So the rescue puppy will be welcome, whiskey or no.
Folks have brought them. But the Forest Service does not like um and won't let you camp with them most of the time. My dogs are too friendly and would want to go play with the wild life and would end up as food for some thing so I leave them at home.
Looks like Clint and I will be heading out Friday night, should be in Utah about noon or so Sat. Still braindtormin about how to get your trailer on there but I'm sure we can "redneck engieneer" somthin'
The best route I could comeup with is take 400 west and run just south of Pueblo, down wolf creek and over to moticello and down to blanding, right at 790mi.
Yup, that's a good route. Clint says you guys are gonna try to make Walsenberg friday night and then back to Walsenburg or Pueblo saturday night. I would do a yellow pages search for motels. I know Walsenberg has a Motel 6 and others out on 25. But they will be out of your way a bit. And I would get info for Lamar and La Junta in case you get delayed. Delorme gives you a good idea of whats there but a lot of the info is dated and yellow pages are more up to date. Pulling in late friday night it might be tough to find a room and it would be best if you could call ahead.
I have a corporate discount card we could see about using for the trip back. But that will be upstairs and the longest walk from stairs. We can talk about that when you guys get here. I would think we would need to call ahead saturday night as well.
I would think Lamar and Alamosa would be more reasonable stopping places but I'm kind of old and slow.
Never had one of those "pets" on a trip either. But ifin she'll set up camp in 20 minutes and go behind a rock or tree and dig a hole to do her "chore" she'll most likely do well.
Looks like a bit of wet stuff in Coloradie saturday. Don't think we'll have any trouble during the day saturday taking the south route with snow. But here is a link for road conditions: Real-Time Road & Weather Conditions
Wonder why we didn't think about contacting the Utah Chapter and see if they had the pointy shoes elves that would help?
Seems like with so many chapters in so many areas, there is a big opertunity here to work as a group to look out for each other. Say some guy from Utah is traveling through and breaks down near one of us, we could take time out of our day to see if there was anything we could do to help, and Visa Versa.
