Im looking for a late 70s ford that I can use for a daily driver. Want im wanting to know is what trucks had what parts. ex. 3/4tons have dana 40s, and 60s? what the diff. is between the ranger, custom and 1/2-1tons. And what all options came with the hi boys. Ive tried to search and find the history or specs of these trucks and have found nothing. thanks

LATE 70's (77.5 and later) were low-boys from what I understand. There is a search at the top of your screen for future reference. Dana 44 came on 150's, 44-hd on F-250's, OPTIONAL (I have one... hehe...) 60 on F-250 (Snowfighter) and 60 on F-350...
That's a freebie, you're on your own for the rest.
Ranger, XLT, Lariat's are all trim packages. The fancier the name the more trim it has. Like carpet, chrome, woodgrain etc. Custom is the base trim package typically pretty well stripped down BUT custom also means, as the name implies, might have been custom ordered and loaded with options. Usually the oddest combinations of hard to find options are found on Custom's.
So was there no "Highboy" at all in 78 and 79? If there was would a highboy come from the factory with a longer driveshaft then a stock height one. Is the only diff. between the axels in 1/2 ton and 3/4 is that the 150s had 44s and the 250s had 44hd. where the rears all 60s? Did all 4x4 trucks use the same t-case. Was there a difference between the 250s and 350s other than stiffer springs? These are the answers im looking for, if no one understands my questions im sorry, but I dont see anywhere on this site where it states what model of trucks had what drivetrain options.

No, there was no "High-boy" for 78-79. All 4x4 should've come with a longer driveshaft due to the higher ride height. No, as I posted above SOME F-250's (I.e. the Snow-fighter) came with D-60's, the F-150's were coil sprung, F-250's leaf sprung. Also the rear was a D-60 in the F-250's. I assume somewhere someone had an oddball D-70 rear in an F-250. Probably a camper special? Anyone? Pretty much all-later models used a NP-205. The rear was a difference between F-250/350. If you're looking for a sticky, I doubt the have one... but if you did a search for Snowfighter, D-60 front, etc, I'm sure something would pop up.
