parking brake

99 ;; F350 crew cab diesel ... I read a lot about the front brakes but nothing on the rear. I had a recall on this truck when it was new and they redid something on the parking brake. The pedal would be all the way to the floor whenever it did catch. I asked about an adjustment and they said there was no adjustment on the parking brake. When I back my boat in the lake I am afraid I am going to run in someday...someone know how to adjust this brake?

I guess I should not have put this where it belongs...should have put it on the diesel side. Maybe someone would tell me I put it in the wrong spot but I would have gotten an answer. Don't know how to move it over there or I would. Thanks!

Parking Brake Shoe and Lining Adjustment

<meta content="Parking Brake Shoe and Lining Adjustment" name="tps_proctitle">
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  1. Remove the brake adjusting hole cover from the backing plate.
  1. Turn the brake adjuster screw to expand the parking brake shoe and linings until they drag against the drum-in-hat rotor.
  1. Back off the brake adjuster screw until no drag is evident.

Do I turn the brake adjuster screw up to expand or down. ??

If you remove the rotor, you will see the parking brake shoes. To adjust the shoes, remove the rubber plug in the access hole on the lower back of the backing plate. Doesnt say which direction expands the shoes.
