Traction Control

Can you turn it on and off on an 08 if it has the traction control option?

Yep, sure can. There is a button on the panel just above (or just below, I can't remember for sure) the button that deactivates the back up sensors. The Traction Control also turns off automatically anytime a four-wheel drive mode is selected.

Hope this helps.

Glad to hear 4X4 deactivates it. It stays on in 4X4 in our 05 explorer. If you start to spin any wheel in 4X4 it will defuel the motor. That really sucks in deep mud or trying to pull something out. I always forget to turn it off until it starts defueling the motor.

I didn't order it, and certainly wouldn't want it on my truck.
I guess if my daughter was driving the truck, it would be a nice safety thing, but not for me.
I want complete control in slippery situations.

That was my line of thinking too, George. I also just saw it as an unnecessary complication and potential problem. However I'm still curious what you like about it, Brandon?

I originally had it speced out when I gave my salesman the list. While I was in the office of the guy who was actually placing the order, he told me to skip it because the system sucked. Unlike the GM which works using the ABS, Ford's version basically lifts the pedal.

Hey, I love buttons, and two is always better than one, but this approach would be frustrating to use in the winter.

The manual says to put the truck in "3" to control traction if you don't have the traction control switch.

I have and am not impressed. All it does is de-rate the engine, you could still go into a skid with it on, trust me been there all ready. Its more or less somthing to talk about if you ask me
