Talking Should I go get flashed

I have some days off this week and I got that letter from Ford saying my truck hasn't got the 06E17 Reflash. The last time it was reflashed was in 2005. The truck is running good so do I want to jinx it ?

I do have the injector stiction and runs really cold at start up.

It seems like my turbo problems went away or something unstuck but knock on wood it hasn't had any problems. Sure glad I didn't rush out and replace the turbo.

Anyhow should I phone Ford tommorow and see if they can reflash the truck.

How do I know if the truck has a chip ?

I never delt with chipping a truck or what they look like and who knows what the previous owner has done to the truck.

I would have to say if it had a program loaded into it, that got wiped out when it was flashed in 05.

I have the newest flash and it has been good so far. No problems like bad mpg's or lack of power. I think FMC got the last two flashes right.

If I plug the EGR back in I'am I going to have problems with the computer re-learing the turbo ?

I reset the KAM with the EGR unplugged and its been good so far. I guess once they reflash the computer they will reset the KAM.

If they do the flash correctly there's not even a relearn cycle for the transmission to perform anymore. It should drive just as smooth as silk.

Yes--you'll have to plug the EGR back in for the flash to perform correctly. Not a big deal. Hopefully it will help aleviate some of your turbo vein problems too, since it cycles the veins to exercise them--really cool to hear with a straightpiped exhaust.

I have a 6spd manual so no worries about automatics

I will plug the EGR back in before I go down to Ford it is a brandnew EGR valve so it should work.

With the egr unplugged the extra heat going to the turbo etc must have helped unstick the turbo a little. From what I read if I get the new flash then I won't beable to disconnect the EGR again because it will trigger the computer. If the new flash makes the truck run okay I will leave the EGR plugged in.

What is the latest flash from Ford? I would like to look up details on it. Does unplugging the EGR really trip the computer into a CEL?

I have a 2005. I held off on the flashes and finally got all the updates about three months ago. I had no problems. I did notice that when letting off the throttle quickly my turbo bad-lash quit. Before the flash it would sometimes chuckle when under turbo load and letting off the throttle quickly. Not anymore. That was an improvement! Good job FMC.
